However, more probably, these weak bands appear due to the isomerization during the annealing and the first measurement. The simplest geminal diol radical trans — cis -HC OH 2 obtained and identified in the present work is presumably very reactive, and further reaction channels are of particular interest. For instance, these species may constitute new channels for the initiation and propagation of more complex organic species in the interstellar clouds.

Another natural extension of this work is the study of reactions between atomic hydrogen and more complex molecules such as amino and fatty acids.
