Perhaps I can clarify that for you. While Withers used to be quite big for a pet, please know his size was reduced a while back. The water effect is still around, though Withers is the same size as other battle pets when you first summon him, slowly getting smaller.

When he fully dives on bodies of water he will regrow to his originally size, though the difference is more subtle than it originally was. I hope however this information helps and wish you best of luck in your adventures!

When you stop channelling you release a wave of fire damage over a wide and long area that will apply a powerful Ignite. The longer you channel, the larger the area of effect and damage of the explosion, up to 10 stages. You continue performing the same skill.

You need to pay mana repeatedly to keep the skill going. The channelled skill's mana cost must be paid again to maintain it with a frequency determined by the cast time. If you can't pay, the skill will end, just as if you'd lifted the button. Dying, being stunned , and other game mechanics that interrupt the use of skills will cause channelling to end as well.
